cloud server migration done!
The high score databases are now on our new super secure cloud servers. Not that we’re storing any personal information (just your high scores and whatever 8 character non-unique name you enter for it) but it does open the door for more complex online apps in the future. We are using a VPS (Virtual Private Server) with dedicated CPU, RAM and disk resources so performance should be consistently good.

Move to cloud servers
The Triv apps will not have access to the world hi-scores database in late January and early February. This is to facilitate the move from our own servers to a much more resilient and secure cloud model. Please bear with us while we do the necessary backend and app changes. All apps should be fully back in action by the middle of February.

picture switcher app
The first of our ‘picture switcher’ casual series of games is now available on the Google and Amazon app stores. This a casual, scrambled picture game where you re-arrange a scrambled picture by swapping two tiles around at a time. If you time out, then the game is over. This first release has cartoon animals as its theme, but we will be following this up with a series of other topics.

Discover scotland tours quiz
We’ve been busy this year working with Discover Scotland, consolidating their business data and systems. It wasn’t all work though; we also had some fun developing the Discover Scotland Tours Quiz app for Android. It is available for download on Discover Scotland’s own Google Play and Amazon app stores. We had some special background music commissioned for this by composer Joel Steudler.

Balfron high school poc project
We had a great time with the staff and pupils at Balfron High School with the Proof-of-Concept project based on the exam revision app that we had developed in 2021. We had great feedback across the board, and we would like to give special thanks to the school’s HT Elaine Bannatyne, science team and PTA. We would also like to thank the SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) for their co-operation and permission in assembling the revision content for the app.
